When it comes to installing, maintaining, and operating air conditioning and heating units, there’s a growing concern about eco-friendliness and whether or not these technologies are sustainably environmentally friendly—and for good reason.

As humans, it’s important that we take care of our planet. And even more specific than this, it’s important that we avoid doing irresponsible things—like building, using, and paying for unsustainable technologies that aren’t going to have a long-term positive impact on our local community, the environment, and the planet as a whole.

Here at F&S Master Air, sustainability and eco-friendliness are big priorities.

And we make it a point to stay ‘in the know’ about the technologies that we’re using, installing, and deploying on a regular basis.

With that being said, some of this stuff is also a bit technical and confusing.

And as a consumer, you may be saying to yourself:

“Look, I want to install a new HVAC unit—but environmental friendliness is really important to me. So how will I know if the equipment I’m looking at is actually a sustainable option?”

This is actually not only a very reasonable question—but also a very responsible question to ask.

And since we’re constantly asking this question ourselves here at F&S Master Air, we decided to help you out by showing you what we look at when the time comes to choose new HVAC units to carry, sell, and install.

Here’s what you need to know.

Research Is Everything

Here’s the good news.

Nowadays, most companies in the heating and air sector are aware of the fact that the HVAC industry needs to get on board with green energy initiatives.

And overall, most of them do a great job.

The bad news is that they don’t ALL do a good job.

Thus, why researching the actual clean energy and eco-friendly initiatives behind each company and product is important.

Here’s an example of what we mean by this.

We here at F&S Master Air sell, carry, and install a wide selection of Rheem products. Rheem is a leader in HVAC tech, and they make some fantastic gear.

But another thing that we love about them is the fact that they have an in-depth sustainability policy and program in place to help them constantly move the needle toward green and sustainable initiatives within their company.

For example—in their Designing for Zero Waste initiative, in their Degrees of Efficiency statement, they say that they’re striving for operational excellence and working smarter and more sustainably to consume fewer resources, generate less waste, and ensure simpler, safer processes.

They also have goals in place that they intend to reach by 2025, which include:

  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 50%
  • Achieving zero waste to landfill in their global manufacturing operations
  • Training 250,000 plumbers, contractors, and key influencers on sustainable products or sustainable installing and recycling best practices
  • Launching a line of heating, cooling, and water heating products that boast a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas footprint

They’ve also chosen 4 focal points in their sustainability initiatives to really focus on, as a plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and curb negative environmental impact. These 4 focal points are:

  • Conserve water
  • Consume less energy
  • Transport efficiently
  • Reduce waste

As you can see, Rheem is an example of a company that takes sustainability very seriously.

They’re also a company that really believes in these initiatives and takes action to make them real.

And this plays into our decision to continue using Rheem products.

It’s Important To Look Forward Into The Future

The sad truth of the matter is that far too many companies get distracted by short-term financial gain, and are all too willing to sacrifice environmental awareness for a more attractive bottom line

They may cut corners, operate less efficiently, and disregard concerns for their environment, community, and planet.

But this isn’t a long-term sustainable model for success.

We all benefit from a greener planet, healthier ecosystems, and an environment less tainted by waste and pollution.

Thus, investing in these types of green energy initiatives, and taking them seriously, is the responsible thing to do for every company.

That’s what we believe here at F&S Master Air. And that’s the policy we stand on and operate by on a daily basis.
